Peppermint Arvensis (India)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT  The Peppermint Plant is a herb with a fragile and leafy stem that reaches about 24 inches in height. Peppermint's leaves are lance-shaped and it bears lilac colored flowers in clusters of the upper leaf. SOURCE The Peppermint Plant is a native of Europe and in some parts of Asia. It was naturalized in North America. China, Brazil, Argentina, India and Vietnam are the primary producers of the Essential Oil.ORIGIN Bruised leaves of the Peppermint Plant used to be applied to the forehead when one was experiencing nervous headaches because of its wonderfully effective cooling properties. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Peppermint Arvensis Essential Oil contains more menthol and more menthone than Peppermint Supreme at about 70-95% and 10-20% respectively. HISTORY Peppermint Arvensis was used in Europe to counteract nervous and digestive problems and can be dated back to 1000 BCE when evidence of peppermint plants was found in an Ancient Egyptian tomb.
