BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Niaouli Tree is an evergreen tree that the essential oil is derived from. Niaouli Trees have a very flexible trunk, spongy bark and pointed leaves with spikes and sessile flowers. SOURCE The Niaouli Tree itself is native to New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and the Eastern Coast of Australia. The Niaouli Essential Oil is produced primarily in those countries as well.ORIGIN Traditional medicine used the Niaouli Tree's twigs and leaves for a wide variety of ailments and bodily problems such as aches and pains of the muscles, respiratory conditions and cuts and infections. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS The mass majority of the Niaouli Essential Oil, almost 50-65%, is made up of Cineol. The rest is a combination of natural chemicals such as Terpineol, Pinene, Limonene, Citrine, etc. HISTORY The Niaouli Essential Oil did not appear in Europe until the 17th Century during the mass explorations of the time. Captain Cook gave it its botanical name while on a shipping route back to Australia.
