Spruce Hemlock (Canada)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Spruce Hemlock Tree is a large tree that is similar to pine trees in appearance but has very distinct differences. They grow about 20-60 meters tall and can be distinguished by its whorled branches. The needles are attached to the branches in a spiral shape. SOURCE Spruce trees prefer colder climates and, therefore, grow closer to the north pole. The main producers of the tree are Canada, Russia, Siberia and Norway. The Essential Oil we buy is imported from Canada.ORIGIN Spruce Hemlock was originally used for its high Vitamin C content to treat illnesses and infections in the body as well as being used to help fight some respiratory ailments such as bronchitis and asthma. PRINCIPLE  CONSTITUENTS The Spruce Hemlock Essential Oil's main chemical constituent is I-Bornyl Acetate at about 22.77%. The rest of the oil is made up of trace chemicals.HISTORY The Native Americans and Scandinavians were famous for using this tree for a number of medicinal and cosmetic uses. The Vikings used to use the needles of the Spruce Tree to make bedding in their homes.
