BOTANICAL PORTRAIT Camphor Trees can reach heights of up to 100 feet. The Camphor essential oil can be found in every part of the tree. Camphor has many branches extending from the tree with small white flowers growing in clusters and are followed by red berries. SOURCE Camphor trees are native to the area of China that is south of the Yangtze River but are now growing in most parts of the world. Today Camphor is cultivated mainly in China, India, Madagascar, Southern Europe and the USA.ORIGIN Camphor has long been used as a preventative for diseases and infections by being worn as a necklace. In general, they would use Camphor for nervous and respiratory failure and as a deodorant. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Camphor has 5 main chemical constituents: Linalool, 1,8-Cineole, Nerolidol, Safrole or Borneol. Generally, however, it has a Linalool concentration of up to 85%.HISTORY Camphor was traded extensively in pre-Islamic times as a flavoring for drinks and by the 13th century, it was used for many culinary purposes. In the 19th Century, Camphor became a popular aromatherapy tool.
