BOTANICAL PORTRAIT  The Himalayan Cedarwood Tree is very tall reaching almost 50m tall and occasionally can even grow more. It is of the evergreen class and is a lovely green color on the foliage. SOURCE Himalayan Cedarwood grows extensively on the slopes of the Himalayas, particularly in Northern India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.ORIGIN In Ancient Egypt, Cedarwood was used as an embalming tool to preserve human remains in the tombs and coffins of kings and pharaohs. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Himalayan Cedarwood is composed of 30.2% α-Termineol, 24.4% Linalool, 17% Limonene, 14.56% Anethole, 2.14% Eugenol and many others. HISTORY Ancient Egyptians were the first to us Cedarwood oil, primarily for embalming purposes but in some cases, it was used for cosmetics and perfume because of its pleasing smell. In fact, Solomon’s temple was built with Cedarwood to help preserve what is in it. Today, it can still be used for a number of things including insect repellent.
