BOTANICAL PORTRAIT A bush that stands at 3 feet tall, it has a thick, pungent rhizome root when it blooms, it has a green, reed-like stalk with thin leaves and white or yellow flowers that stand on a spike that comes directly from the root. SOURCE Native to South Asia, the Ginger plant now has spread and grows in East Africa and the Caribbean.ORIGIN Ginger has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times specifically in Chinese and Sanskrit texts and also is mentioned by the Greeks and Romans. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS The Ginger Essential oil contains a-Pinene, Camphene, b-Pinene, 1,8-Cineole, Linalool and Borneol as well as some other chemicals. HISTORY Brought to Europe between the 10th and 15th centuries, the Ginger Plant was used as a condiment and a spice.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM The wonderfully versatile Ginger Essential Oil can help relieve congestion, coughs, sinusitis, and ease the pain of sore throat making the symptoms of the cold and the flu less severe. DIGESTIVE SYSTEM Though Ginger is known to have a long history as a remedy for a nauseous stomach, it can also be used to help diarrhea, colic, cramp, flatulence, indigestion, lack of appetite and travel sickness.
