SOURCE  Today the Tea Tree Plant is cultivated on plantations in Australia almost exclusively. The largest Tea Tree plantations can be found in the territory of New South Wales. Other varieties of Tea Tree can be cultivated elsewhere though. ORIGIN  Originally, the Tea Tree plant was harvested by the aboriginal people of Australia to be made into the oil and used medicinally. It was even issued to troops as a medicine for tropical infections and infected wounds.
